Description
Cow Ark Smithy is a former smithy, likely built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from squared sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The south wall has two windows with plain stone surrounds; the right-hand window has the date "SR D 1804" and other illegible initials roughly carved on the lintel. Between the windows is a door with a plain stone surround, which has been blocked to create a window. To the far left, there is a wide entrance with long-and-short jambs and a timber lintel. The right-hand gable has a coping and a truncated chimney cap that shows weathering. To the right of the wide opening, there is a brick chimney cap, along with another truncated chimney on the rear wall. Inside, there is a solid stone wall to the right of the wide opening, and the right-hand unit features a hardwood roof truss with a collar, tie, and raking queen struts.
