Description
The sundial located south of the main doorway at Browsholme Hall dates back to the 17th century. It is made of sandstone and features a brass plate. The sundial has an octagonal shape, becoming square where it is socketed into a square base. The top is octagonal with a cyma moulding. The shaft consists of two pieces of stone, each adorned with decorative bosses on four sides near the top. The lower part of the upper stone is inscribed, and the inscription appears to read as follows:
