Description

Browsholme Farmhouse is a house that may have been converted from a 17th-century farm building, with an extension added in 1900 that matches the original style. The building is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof. It has two storeys, with the south facade showcasing an earlier gabled wing on the right side.

On the ground floor, to the right of the porch, there is a wide entrance that has a triangular head made of two pieces of stone; this entrance is now blocked and has been converted into a window featuring two square stone mullions. Above this, on the first floor, is a tall two-light window with a plain stone surround and square mullion. To the left of this window, above the porch, is a blocked doorway with a triangular head. At the attic level, there is a blocked opening with a rebated and chamfered surround.

The porch itself has a moulded doorway with a two-centred head and features a plaque with a carved deer above it, along with a coping that has a ball finial. To the right, the roofline of the wing extends over a one-bay outshut, where the ground-floor window is set within a blocked doorway with a triangular head. The first-floor window in this section is modern and has long-and-short jambs.

To the left of the porch is a one-bay wing, which has a six-light chamfered mullioned and transomed window with a hood on the south wall. The first floor of this wing is blank, featuring a plaque inscribed 'IPB 1900'. The west gable wall has a three-light chamfered mullioned window with a hood on each floor. There are chimneys on either side of the earlier wing, and both gables have copings.
