Description
The former stables on the north side of the farmyard, now converted into flats, date from the early to mid-18th century and were relocated to their current position in 1804. They are constructed of squared coursed sandstone and topped with a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features five bays with chamfered quoins. The windows are sashed with glazing bars and have architraves. The central bay includes a wide entrance flanked by Tuscan pilasters, along with a frieze and cornice. The gables are adorned with copings and kneelers, with the right-hand gable featuring a chimney cap. At the rear, there is a blocked wide entrance with a segmental head. The stables do not appear in a view of Browsholme from around 1720 in Samuel Buck's Yorkshire Sketchbook, but they are depicted in a drawing dated around 1750, which is reproduced in the Description of Browsholme Hall published in London in 1815.
