Description
The Old Smithy is a house with an attached smithy located on the north side of Westwick Road. It dates from the early 19th century, with some later 19th-century window features. The building is primarily constructed of snecked sandstone, featuring dressed alternate quoins, and has roofs made of sandstone flags with corniced stacks of dressed sandstone.
The two-storey, three-bay house has a central boarded door and six-pane sash windows, each with tooled lintels and raised sills. The single-storey, two-bay smithy has a boarded door set under a segmental arch with dressed voussoirs to the left, and a boarded window under a similar but smaller arch to the right. Both sections have moderately-pitched roofs with flat-coped gables. The house includes two gable stacks, while the smithy has one gable stack on the right.
