Description
The former Vicarage, located to the north of St George's Church, is now an old people's residence. Built around 1875, it is possibly designed by the architectural firm Paley and Austin. The building features coursed stone rubble with ashlar dressings and slate roofs.
The north elevation has two storeys with an attic in the first two bays and consists of three bays overall, along with a single-storey service range to the west. There is a first-floor sill course, and the windows are mostly 8-pane sashes. The first bay on the ground floor has a canted gabled bay window with a cross-casement, while the second bay contains two sashed windows, and the third bay has a segmental-headed paired sash. On the first floor, the first two bays have paired sashes, and the third bay has paired sashed windows. The roof features two gable-end stacks and a cross-axial stack, with the second bay also having a gabled dormer with leaded glazing.
The south elevation showcases the second and third projecting gabled bays, with the roof sweeping down to the east. The second bay includes a stair window, while the third bay features a three-light double-chamfered mullioned window with a triple sash above and a three-light casement in the roughcast attic. The east return has an entrance with the date 1876 inscribed on an embattled lintel, and there is a stack in the roof slope. The first bay has a lean-to outshut and a flat-roofed single-storey extension. The east elevation has sashed windows and a four-light casement in the attic, also with leaded glazing.
