Description
The war memorial located immediately to the north of St George's Church is a tribute to the Boer War, dating from around 1900. It takes the form of a cross set within a square enclosure. The memorial features a low wall with iron railings that surrounds a stepped base, which has a battered plinth adorned with lettering in sunk bands, some of which include interlace designs, while the rear displays an animal motif. The shaft of the memorial is decorated with entwined vines and interlace patterns. The cross head is of Celtic design, featuring cable moulding and interlace.
