Description

Birkby Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1727, as inscribed above the entrance. It features painted dressed sandstone walls with raised quoins and an eaves cornice, set on a chamfered plinth. The roof is made of graduated greenslate and has coped gables with kneelers, along with cement rendered chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has five bays. The entrance consists of a two-panel round-headed door framed by a pilastered surround with imposts and a false keystone. The windows are casements set in painted stone architraves, with the one above the entrance being false. An adjoining extension to the right is not of interest.
