Description
The Retreat is a house dating from the early 19th century. It features painted stucco walls with angle pilasters and a stone parapet, topped by a graduated greenslate roof with rendered chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has five bays, with a lower two-storey, three-bay extension on the right side. The central bay is canted and includes panelled double doors beneath stone panels, along with tall two-light windows set in stone surrounds. The sash windows have chamfered painted surrounds and are topped with hoodmoulds. The extension features a linenfold panelled door with an overlight, while there is a 20th-century garage door to the right. The sash windows throughout have glazing bars and are framed in painted stone surrounds.
