Description

This milestone, dating from the early 19th century, is located south of Moss Wood along the Longtown-Gretna road. It is made of red sandstone and features a cast iron plate. The stone is squared with a rounded top and has a circular cast plate on the front that displays the lettering "CARLISLE 10 MILES." The stone has been whitewashed, with the lettering highlighted in black. Additionally, there is a benchmark on the top of the stone.
