Description

This milestone, dating from the early 19th century, is located on the Longtown-Penton road. It is made of red sandstone and features a cast iron plate. The squared stone has a circular plate on the front that is inscribed with "CARLISLE 12 MILES." The milestone is whitewashed, with the lettering highlighted in black.
