Description
This suspension bridge, built in 1877, spans the River Esk and was commissioned by the Graham family of Netherby. It is constructed of iron and steel, featuring two tall square pylons on either bank that support a lattice of steel wires and a wooden plank walkway. A painted warning notice from 1904 indicates a restriction on the number of people allowed on the bridge at one time. The bridge was designed to provide access from Netherby Hall to the nearby Kirkandrews Church and lies partly within the Kirkandrews civil parish.
