5161 KIRKGATE (East Side) Nos 53 & 55. Cobbled forecourt to Nos 53 & 55.

  1. C18, 2 low storeys, roughcast walls and slate roof. No 53 has a square entry to yard, a panelled door, one sash window on ground floor and 3 above, all in plain stone architraves and with low proportions. No 55 is somewhat later and has a centre panelled door up 4 steps with a modern timber porch, 2 sash windows on ground floor and 3 above, all in plain stone frames. The cobbled forecourt is long and narrow, extending in front of Nos 27 to 55, without divisions or railings, and open to the pavement.

No 13, Nos 17 to 55 (odd), Nos 36 & 38, Nos 46 to 86 (even) together with NO 47A and Kirkgate House form a group.
