Description
No 31 and the cobbled forecourt to No 31 are located on the east side of Kirkgate. This building dates from the 19th century and is part of a continuous row that includes No 25. It has two low storeys with scored stucco and slate roofs. Each house features boarded doors and one sash window on each floor, all framed by plain stone architraves.
The cobbled forecourt is long and narrow, extending in front of Nos 31 to 55, without any divisions or railings, and is open to the pavement.
No 31, along with Nos 13, 17 to 25 (odd), 31 to 55 (odd), No 38, and Nos 46 to 86 (even), as well as Nos 47A and Kirkgate House, form a group of buildings of architectural significance.
