Description
A barn dating to the early 19th century stands adjoining the north-west side of Spittal Farmhouse. The barn is constructed of red sandstone rubble with flush quoins and is roofed with graduated greenslate. It is a long, single-story structure with lofts, and it encloses a farmyard to the west. A large segmental cart entrance has a 20th-century sliding door. A plank door and a casement window, both set in stone surrounds, are located to the right of the cart entrance. Slit vents are visible at two different levels. A later extension to the right of the barn is not of historical interest. The barn is listed jointly with Spittal Farmhouse for group value.
