Description
The building is a Post Office and five houses that form a terrace, located at Hazeldene, Sea View, Harbour View, and Dalvean and Galegarth. Hazeldene is dated 1810 and features the initials T.P.D., while Sea View is of the same date, and the other houses date from around 1830. They are constructed from red and yellow sandstone ashlar and have pilaster quoins on the end houses, along with a moulded cornice. The roof is made of Common Welsh slate, and there are ashlar and brick chimney stacks. The buildings are two storeys high, with two bays each. The Post Office has three bays, featuring a 20th-century door in a plain stone surround, with flanking canted bay windows and 2-pane sash windows above. The panelled doors have patterned fanlights in plain stone surrounds with a round arch and keystone. Harbour View and Dalveen have 2-pane sash windows in plain stone surrounds, while the other houses have 20th-century windows in their original surrounds. These buildings have group value with the Eden View - The Hollies group.
