Description

The building is a post office and a terrace of four houses, dated 1887 and 1893, and designed by Howard. It is constructed of dressed pink sandstone with a graduated greenslate roof and coped gable on the left side. Ashlar chimney stacks are present. The building is two storeys high, with two bays for each house, sharing a common roof. The post office is integrated within the terrace, but a gable datestone suggests it was built first. There are plank doors set within chamfered stone surrounds. The ground floor windows are three-light sashes, while those above are two-light sashes. A 20th-century door and shop window are situated under hoodmoulds, with a two-light window above also under hoodmoulds. A chamfered angle features a recessed, wall-mounted letter box. The building is listed for group value with number 5.
