Description

The village cross in Greystoke is likely from the 17th century and stands on a 19th-century plinth. It is made of red sandstone and features an octagonal plinth with five steps, of which the top two are original. Above this is a square base and a tapered chamfered shaft topped with a floriated cross head. Historical records indicate that the cross predates November 8, 1623, when a child was buried at the town cross in Greystoke, suggesting its significance in the village's history.
