Description
Stafford House is a house built in the late 18th century for the 11th Duke of Norfolk. It features dressed red sandstone walls, eaves modillions, and battlemented parapets. The roof is made of graduated greenslate and has red sandstone chimney stacks. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The central entrance consists of a panelled door set in a pointed-arched surround. The sash windows have intersecting glazing bars and are also set in pointed-arched surrounds, complete with false impost blocks and keystones. On the left side of the building, there is a large pointed-arched tracery window. The rear of the house has two round-arched doorways that are now partly blocked to create windows, along with a right square casement. Above these, there is a pointed-arched window flanked by two similar two-light windows. This building served as the head gardener's house for the Greystoke estate.
