Description

War Memorial Bridge is a road bridge located in Greystoke, built in 1796 with alterations made in 1920. It is constructed from dressed red sandstone and features a small single-span segmental arch that is splayed at either side, with a solid parapet. A brass plate on the bridge inscribes the following: "THIS BRIDGE ERECTED BY CHARLES DUKE OF NORFOLK AND THE PARISHIONERS IN 1796 WAS REBUILT AND WIDENED BY THE PARISHIONERS OF GREYSTOKE 1920 IN MEMORY OF ALL THOSE WHO FROM THIS PARISH SERVED IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918."
