Description

The Old Rectory is an early 19th-century rectory, later converted into a private house, with a mid-19th century extension. It is constructed of pink sandstone ashlar, with angle pilasters, and has a hipped roof covered in graduated greenslate, with ashlar chimney stacks. The main block is two storeys high and six bays wide, with a projecting central two-bay section topped by a pediment. It features sash windows with slender glazing bars, set in stone surrounds. A 19th-century glazed door is located on the rear, within a Tuscan-style porch with a panelled reveal. A large round-headed stair window is also present on the left side. A two-storey, four-bay rear extension forms an L-shape with the main house and incorporates sash windows with glazing bars in stone surrounds. A further single-storey extension mirrors this style. Internal shutters are present in each window of the original house.
