Description

The Boot and Shoe Inn, along with former stables and numbers 1 and 2 The Hill, form a row of buildings dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. The structure is built of mixed sandstone rubble walls, partially covered with painted render, and has a graduated greenslate roof with banded sandstone chimney stacks, one of which is roughcast. The public house forms the central portion, a 3-bay, 2-storey block, with stables to the right and single-bay houses to the left, all sharing a common roofline. The buildings feature panelled doors and sash windows, some with glazing bars, all set within stone surrounds. The stables include plank doors and a loft doorway with a segmental carriage arch to the right, situated below a double casement window. The buildings are listed for group value with Church View and Greystoke Primary School, due to their prominent position along one side of the village green.
