Description

Milestone located south-west of Heather Bank, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, was erected for the Wigton-Workington Turnpike. It is made of whitewashed stone and features a round-topped design. The front of the milestone is inscribed with "WORKINGTON 10 MILES, WIGTON 13 MILES." There is also an Ordnance Survey bench mark on the top of the stone.
