Description
This is a mid-18th century inn, later divided into two houses, with 19th-century additions. Originally named The London Apprentices Arms, it later became The Sun and closed as The Globe in 1914. The building is painted with incised stucco detailing V-jointed quoins, topped by a Welsh slate roof and a 20th-century tile roof with coped gables and kneelers. Chimneys are of stucco. The original section, Easdale, was built with three bays and two storeys. The right-hand bay and a two-bay extension under a common roof now form Globe Inn Cottage. A two-bay extension was added to the left side of Easdale, also under a common roof. Easdale has a central six-panel door set in a bolection architrave. Sash windows with bolection architraves are present, and a further sash window is in the left extension. Globe Inn Cottage features a 20th-century door and sash windows, along with one 20th-century casement window, all set in plain reveals. The building is included on the list due to its group value and its integral connection to Easdale; the house on the far left, previously used as stables, does not hold historical significance.
