Description
Christ Church and Sunday School is a parish church and Sunday school built in 1840 on the site of a church from 1744. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed red sandstone, featuring V-jointed quoins and eaves modillions, set on a chamfered plinth. It has a graduated greenslate roof with stepped coping and scrolled kneelers. The church has a three-bay nave, with a parallel north Sunday School and a T-plan cross chancel. The west entrance has panelled double doors with an overlight, framed by a pilastered surround and topped with a console bracketed cornice. The tall round-headed windows are also in pilastered surrounds and include false keystones, while the chancel has similar triple windows. The Sunday School features sash windows with glazing bars. The interior is plain, containing early 20th-century furnishings and fittings.
