Description
Solway View and West View are two houses, originally a single dwelling, built in the early 19th century. The walls are rendered with incised decoration and feature V-jointed quoins on the left side and an eaves cornice, set on a chamfered plinth. The roof is covered with graduated greenslate, and there are cement-rendered chimney stacks. The houses have two storeys and originally three bays, although a fourth bay is now West View. The main house has a panelled front door with a glazed overlight, set within an Ionic doorcase. Sash windows are set in painted stone surrounds. West View has a two-storey side projection with a 20th-century door beneath a casement window. Local records indicate the property was previously named Solway Villa, and the owner currently refers to it as Solway View. The building is listed due to its group value with the nearby Ship Hotel.
