Description
Crookhurst Farmhouse and Cottage is a farmhouse that has been divided into two dwellings. It likely dates from the early 18th century, with alterations marked by an inscription over the doorway reading I.B. 1745, which may refer to John or Thomas Beeby. The building features painted roughcast walls, V-jointed quoins, an eaves cornice, and sits on a chamfered plinth. The roof is made of graduated greenslate with coped gables and has roughcast chimney stacks.
The structure is two storeys high and has eight bays. The left side has a 20th-century door set in a painted stone architrave, while the centre features a 20th-century door within a late 19th-century painted stone surround. There is a former doorway to the right that has a dated lintel. Sash windows are present in painted stone surrounds. An early 19th-century extension can be found at the rear. There is also a detached outbuilding, which is not listed, that has a reused lintel inscribed W & E.B. 1709, indicating it may have originated from the farmhouse. The adjoining barns are not considered of interest.
