Description

This milestone, located south-east of Newton Field, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and was erected for the Wigton-Workington Turnpike. It is made of whitewashed stone and features a round top. The front of the milestone is inscribed with the distances to Workington (13 miles) and Wigton (10 miles).
