Description

No. 8 West Street is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is built of coursed squared ironstone with a tiled roof and features brick ridge and end stacks. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a five-window range. The entrance is a four-panel part-glazed door set within a pilastered wood surround, located one bay to the left of the right end. All windows are two-light wood casements with stone lintels that have key blocks. There is an effaced datestone positioned between the upper windows to the left of the door. The gables are stone coped and include kneelers. Inside, the house features stop-chamfered beams and an open fireplace. It is said to date from 1740.
