Description
Sibley House and Sharpe's Butchers is a house that incorporates a shop, dating from the early 18th century. It is built of ironstone ashlar with a slate roof and features brick ridge and end stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan, consisting of two storeys and an attic. The left side has a two-window wing that projects forward from the main two-window range. The main range has a central six-panelled door with an ornamental overlight above it. A datestone inscribed with H/JE/1734 is located above the door. The building features 12-pane sash windows with moulded stone sills, surrounds, and lintels that include keyblocks. There is a stone plinth, a first-floor string course, and moulded stone eaves. The return wing has chamfered quoins and a 20th-century shop front. The gable is coped with stone and has kneelers. Inside, there are some stop-chamfered beams.
