Description
No. 5 High Street is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features a slate roof, along with brick ridge and end stacks. The building has a three-unit through-passage plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range. The entrance is a six-panel part-glazed door located to the left of centre, topped with a timber lintel. Throughout the house, there are three-light casement windows, also with timber lintels. The first-floor casements to the right of centre have leaded lights, each containing 15 panes of crown glass. Inside, the property features stop-chamfered spine beams, an open fireplace, a staircase with turned balusters, and a stone fireplace with a four-centred arch in the upstairs room.
