Description

This is a house, originally four cottages, dating from the 17th and early 18th centuries, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of roughly squared ironstone blocks, with a pantile and plain tile roof, and brick end and ridge stacks. The building comprises five units. The central section is cruck-framed and follows a through-passage plan. The house is two storeys high with a seven-window front. A central plank door is set beneath a timber lintel. The windows are mostly 20th-century casement windows, with one, two, or three lights, all with timber lintels. A further 20th-century part-glazed door is located to the left. A stone coped gable is visible on the left side. Inside, there is a fine set of stop-chamfered spine beams, as well as stop-chamfered rafters. A notable feature is an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer and a pair of raised cruck blades with a saddle. The building was formerly thatched and extended further to the north.
