Description

The property at 32 and 34 Banbury Lane comprises a late 17th-century house and shop, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with slate roofs, and features brick end and ridge stacks. The building has an L-shaped layout. The main two-storey and attic range has a four-panel part-glazed door with a straight hood on its right side, facing the street. It also features three-light, small-pane leaded windows with timber lintels on both the ground and first floors, along with 19th-century gabled dormers. A projecting wing contains a shop window on the ground floor, a three-light, small-pane leaded casement window on the first floor, again with a timber lintel, a shop door (four-panel part-glazed), and a single-storey lean-to extension to the right with a shop window. The interior retains a stop-chamfered spine beam and one clasped principal of the original roof structure, now located in the attic.
