Description

The Spectacles is a gate arch, likely built in the mid-18th century. It is constructed from regularly coursed lias stone. The arch features a pointed shape with a stepped gable above, and it is flanked by tall circular turrets that have castellations. Within the archway, there is a pair of iron gates. This structure may have been erected as part of a series of similar follies on the Boughton Hall estate.
