Description
April Cottage is a pair of mid-18th century cottages, now combined into a single dwelling. The building is constructed of squared coursed lias stone with a plain tiled roof. Originally comprising one two-unit cottage and one single-unit cottage, it now presents as a four-window range. The central first-floor window is a horizontal sliding sash with leaded lights, while the remaining windows are casements with leaded lights, all set beneath wooden lintels. A 20th-century door is located on the left side. Gable parapets and brick stacks are present at the ridge and end of the roof. 19th and 20th century extensions have been added to the left. Inside, the room to the right of the entrance features one moulded and one chamfered ceiling beam. A window seat has a panelled front with the inscription MC/1633, which is believed to have been re-used from Moulton Church. There are remnants of an open fireplace with a bressumer above.
