Description

Bunkers Hill Farm is a farmhouse dating to 1776, built for the Earl of Strafford and Wentworth. It is constructed of coursed lias rubble with a slate roof. The building follows a double-depth plan. The south elevation features a two-storey, four-window range, with an asymmetrical design. The second window from the left is a projecting two-storey bay containing the entrance. It has casement windows and a pitched roof with four gables, which are finished with a crenellated parapet. A bay to the right was added in the 19th century. The south front includes rounded and quatrefoil decoration, with a datestone above the entrance. The north elevation features Diocletian windows throughout. The farm was originally built as a folly by the Earl of Strafford and Wentworth to commemorate the Battle of Bunker Hill in 1775. A bay was added to the right in the 19th century.
