Entrance Arch And Gates, Dalcross Castle

The entrance arch and gates at Dalcross Castle date from the late 19th century. The arch is a simple round-headed design made of rubble, featuring crowstep detailing. It is supported by tall rubble drum piers that are connected to coped rubble quadrants. A wall extends to the west, forming the garden wall of the gate lodge.

The gate lodge is a modest cottage from the early to mid-19th century. It is a single-storey building with an attic and has a symmetrical three-bay east-facing front that looks towards the drive. The central door is sheltered by a projecting gabled porch. The exterior is finished with white harling. There are two small piended dormers in the outer bays, which have four-pane glazing, and the building rests on boulder footings. It features end stacks and a slate roof.
