Description
The Old Rectory barn and coach house, dating from the 18th century with early 19th century alterations, is located approximately 10 meters east of the Old Rectory in Preston Capes. The structure is built of coursed squared ironstone and features a slate roof. It stands two storeys high and has two central stable doors, with the door on the right having a 2-light leaded overlight. Flanking the stable doors are large double-leaf coach house doors. Additional openings, both 1-light and 2-light, are present and have timber lintels. The building has stone eaves and stone coped gables with kneelers, while the right gable is topped with a wrought-iron weathervane. To the right, there is a lower two-storey, one-window lean-to extension, with 20th century garage doors located behind the right gable end. Some stalls have been preserved inside. This building is included for its group value.
