Description
The former barn and stable at the rear of Strelley House dates from around 1800 and has been altered in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with pantile roofs. The barn, located to the east, has four bays and features off-centre barn doors that are now blocked, with a late 19th-century six-panel door inserted. To the right, there is a segment-arched cross casement with three lights, and above it, a smaller flat-headed casement. To the left, there is identical fenestration, with two windows on each floor, all of which have leaded glazing. The lower stable to the left has a blocked central opening with a small casement inserted, flanked by single larger windows. The west gable facing the street has full-width board doors with an off-centre stone pier and a common wooden lintel. The barn interior is rendered and ceiled, while the stable features a 19th-century king post roof. These outbuildings have served various purposes, including a chapel, garage, and joinery workshop. They are included for their group value.
