Description

Olive Tree Cottage and the adjoining shop and bakery is a building that consists of a house, shop, and bakery. The house dates from the 17th century, while the shop and bakery are believed to have been converted from a former barn in the 19th century. The house is located on the left and is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with a tile roof and flanking brick stacks. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring five bays. On the ground floor, there are two three-light wood casement windows in moulded stone frames with square hoods, along with a small one-light window in a moulded stone frame in the right bay. The first floor has 20th-century two-light casement windows with wood lintels, and there are 20th-century gabled timber attic dormers. Inside, the house has chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with an original timber bressumer and a Victorian grate.

The shop and bakery, located to the right, also features coursed ironstone rubble and a tile roof with brick stacks. It has two storeys and four bays, with a gabled bay on the right. The entrance in the left bay has a stone lintel and a 20th-century door. The shop front, dating from the 19th century, includes a central half-glazed door flanked by bay windows with a moulded stone cornice. Other windows are from the 19th and 20th centuries. The interior of the shop and bakery has been remodelled in the 20th century.
