Description

The Old Bakery and shop to the right is a pair of shops and houses dating from the late 18th century. The building is rendered with a tiled roof and brick stacks. It is two stories high with five windows. There is a central cart entry featuring wooden gates and rounded corners on the lintel.

The Old Bakery, located on the left, has a 19th-century shop front that includes a four-panelled door and a large eight-pane window, supported by pilasters and consoles under a cornice. To the left, there is a 12-pane sash window. The antique shop on the right also features a large 19th-century shop front, which includes a half-glazed door on the right, a four-panelled door on the left, and a four-pane shop window, along with pilasters and consoles to the cornice.

On the first floor, there are two 12-pane sash windows on either side of a 19th-century canted oriel window above the entry. The rear of the building is partly inaccessible but includes rear wings for each property with casement and sash windows. The left side of The Old Bakery features an external stone stack with offsets and a truncated top. There is a blocked pointed doorway off the cart entry to The Old Bakery and a blocked shouldered doorway off the entry to the antique shop.

Inside The Old Bakery, there are four-panelled doors and an open fireplace with a timber lintel set on stone jambs. It is likely that this building was used as a coaching inn during the 18th or 19th century.
