Description

A pair of cottages dates to the mid-18th century and is located on the east side of Hindon High Street. The cottages are constructed of limestone ashlar with a tiled roof and have gable end brick stacks. They are two storeys high with a three-window front. A Gibbs surround frames the central entry, to the left of which is a four-panelled door and a three-light steel casement. To the right is a 20th-century door for Barham Cottage, and a pair of 15-pane sashes. A plat band runs along the first floor, with a central 16-pane sash in a Gibbs surround, and further 16-pane sashes to either side within moulded stone architraves. The rear and interiors were inaccessible during the survey in December 1985. These cottages are among several houses rebuilt after a fire in 1754.
