Description

Bank House is a semi-detached house dating to approximately 1800. The house is built of rendered brick with a Welsh slate roof and has gable-end brick stacks. It is three storeys high and has a three-window front. The central entrance has a six-panelled door with a transom light and a flat wooden hood supported by brackets; there are sixteen-pane sash windows either side. The first floor has three sixteen-pane sashes, and the second floor has three twelve-pane sashes. Boxed eaves are present on the slate roof. The rear elevation mirrors the front with similar sash windows. The interior features four and six-panelled doors and blocked fireplaces. It is reputed to have been a private bank in the early 19th century, providing financial services for inn-keepers and traders during Hindon's prosperous coaching era.
