Description

Players is a mid-18th century house situated in a row on Hindon High Street, and now incorporated into The Lamb Inn. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar, with a half-hipped tiled roof and gable end brick stacks. It is two storeys and an attic, with a two-window facade. The central entrance features a four-panelled door with a transom light, set within a porch supported by wooden posts. Flanked on either side are sixteen-pane flush sash windows within a moulded architrave. The first floor has a square-cut string course at sill level, supporting two further sixteen-pane flush sashes. A moulded stone eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. Two hipped dormers, each containing a two-light casement, light the attic. A brick rear wing has two-light casements. The interior includes a dog leg staircase with turned balusters rising to a closed string.
