Description

Ivy House, The Old Bakery, and Fig Tree Cottage are a range of timber-framed buildings dating from the 16th century or earlier, with 18th and 19th-century facades. The buildings are two storeys high and have a total of six windows. The main block, which has five windows, features a high-pitched hipped gabled tiled roof with a rebuilt chimney. The right section, Ivy House, has a tile-hung first floor and a painted brick ground floor. The first floor has modern casement windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor includes two modern shop windows with bars, one of which is a canted bay situated between two half-glazed doors. The left door features a primitive vermiculate lintel and a console bracketed cornice, while the right door has pilasters and a modified entablature with a canopy extending over the shop window.

The left section, known as The Old Bakery, has a 19th-century brick front with two sash windows on the first floor. The ground floor features a 19th-century shop front with spiral twist columns and a modillion cornice above the window, along with panelled pilasters and a cornice on fluted brackets above the door. The lower, one-bay left section, Fig Tree Cottage, is under a hipped tiled roof and has a 19th-century brick front with sash windows on the first floor and a late 19th-century shop front on the ground floor.

Ivy House, The Old Bakery, and Fig Tree Cottage are part of a group that includes Eversley and Dilgerts, Darenth Cottage, Markwick, Nigel Coleman Antiques, No 5 Barton's Cottages, and Nos 1 to 4 Barton's Cottages.
