Description
This is a timber-framed building, likely dating from the 16th century or earlier, with a front of painted brick from the 18th century. It is two storeys high with an attic, and has five windows. The steeply pitched tiled roof has a modern square dormer. The first floor has C19 sash windows set beneath shallow segmental arches, with a small square window positioned second from the left. The right-hand side, now occupied by Swan's, features a C19 shop front with plate glass windows and a smaller window to the right. The left side has a small shop window and a door with a bracketed hood, as well as ornamental false timbering applied across the front. Inside the right-hand house, there is extensive exposed timberwork and two original fireplaces. A gabled rear wing extends to the right. The building forms a group with nearby properties including Eversley and Dilgerts, Darenth Cottage, Marwick, Nos 1 to 4 (consec), Barton's Cottages, John McMaster, Cowland’s Bakery and P J Donoghue, hairdresser.
