Description
The Antique Shop, located on the north side of High Street in Brasted, is a 19th-century building with two storeys. The ground floor is rendered, while the first floor features tile hanging that conceals an older timber-framed structure. The roof has ridge tiles, with a tiled gable end to the left and a half-dormer in the center.
On the ground floor, there is a projecting oriel shop window and three panelled doors from the 19th century, with the door on the right having an ornamental bracketed tiled hood above it. The tile hanging on the left is brought down and curves forward to form a hood with a concave plastered soffit, which displays the shop sign and name.
The first floor has various 19th-century casement windows and one 18th-century sash window with bars in the center, along with half-dormers. The premises have been occupied by Mary and Patrick Antiques, L Muir, K W Baker, and P J Donoghue. The Antique Shop is part of a group that includes Kent Cottage and Mills Bakery.
