Description

The C15 Tucke Shoppe, located on the south side of High Street in Brasted, is a 16th century or earlier building that features an 18th century front elevation with stucco finish. It has two storeys and four windows in total, topped by a large hipped tiled roof and a Tudor stack. The first floor has 18th century sash windows with glazing bars set in exposed frames, along with one small inserted window.

On the left side of the ground floor, there is a modern shop front occupied by L E Watts. The right side of the ground floor, which is the original C15 Tucke Shoppe, has a plain plank door beneath a bracketed hood, with a small mullioned shop window to the right and a 19th century casement window to the left. The building has a weatherboarded return to Elliotts Lane and a rear wing that displays visible timber framing with brick filling. There is also another gabled wing extending back on the left side.

The Tucke Shoppe is part of a group that includes Streatfield House, the premises occupied by M L Maudsley, Westminster Bank, Roughwood Cafe, The Pharmacy, Mount Cottage, the premises occupied by M J P Ltd, Mount House, and Walls.
