Description
Old Forge Cottage comprises 16th-century or earlier buildings that have been unified with a 20th-century facade, particularly matching the appearance of number 1, which is entirely of the early 20th century. The front elevation features a high-pitched slate roof, decorative plasterwork on the first floor, and a yellow brick ground floor with mock half-timbering. The cottage is two storeys high. Number 2 has two windows, and number 3 has one. The windows are late 18th or early 19th century sashes, from which the bars are missing. The rear of the cottage reveals much of the original structure, with a tiled roof of an irregular form, old brickwork, and one original mullioned window. The interior retains substantial original features, including thick-headed posts, upcurved ties, roll-moulded beams, and solid braces.
