Description

This is a house, dating from the 17th to 18th century, located on Braunston High Street. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone with a 20th-century tile roof and brick stacks. The building is two storeys high and has four bays. The entrance, in the second bay from the left, features a plain wooden door surround with a moulded timber hood supported by brackets. Various 2-light and 3-light casement windows are present, each with a wooden lintel. A doorway with a wooden lintel and a 6-panel door is found in the second bay from the right. First floor windows consist of both 2-light casements and a 3-light casement, all with wooden lintels. The rear of the property is partially timber-framed with brick infill. The left side has been rebuilt in brick, and the left gable end features brick coping. Inside, there is an open fireplace and chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. Original principal rafters and tie beams remain, although the remainder of the roof structure was renewed around 1975 following the removal of thatch. The building was formerly known as the "Dog and Gun" Public House until 1970.
